Ugly Town is a theme park where you are guaranteed a bad time.
It’s ironic that we spend a small fortune to go to the Happiest Place on Earth, yet at an even greater cost, we spend an inordinate amount of our free time beating ourselves up for things that are out of our control. And even though a trip to UglyTown is completely nonobligatory, for some reason we are compelled to regularly visit.
I’ve used animals in this series of paintings because they are not only completely unperturbed about their physical assets but actually seem to relish the very things that make them unique.
