ABOUT LYNN CHANG

ARTIST STATEMENT

Through my paintings I am able to explore that undefined space between what you see and the limitless place of your imagination. In life, there always exists strict, definitive pragmatic boundaries – but with painting, the choices are expansive and always your own.

The moment I put a paintbrush it immediately felt like a natural extension of myself. I love the medium of paint – the vibrancy of color, the texture or the way you can move it on a canvas to create tone, contrast, space and composition.

It is not a singular subject matter that captures my attention – rather the ability to achieve spontaneity in brush strokes, imbue with color and instill a quality of moment in my paintings.
